Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery, using lacquer mixed with powdered gold to highlight and dignify the object’s history. The use of kintsugi throughout this book celebrates God’s faithfulness and reflects His redemption of humanity’s brokenness.

The photography throughout the book tells the story of this process—a picture of how broken pieces can be mended to create a restored and beautiful whole. Kintsugi-inspired painted lines that appear on select spreads are visual representations of God’s devotion to His covenant with David.
