One of Revelation’s most glorious scenes is that of the new Jerusalem in chapter 21. In it, John describes the gemstones used to build the city walls—jewels including sapphire, emerald, amethyst, and jasper. While we don’t know exactly what these gems will look like in the new Jerusalem, they were a fitting inspiration for the photography featured in this book, offering our imaginations a glimpse of the glory to come.
The vivid symbolism in Revelation inspired the minimalist icons you’ll find alongside some of book’s more visual passages.
